Once upon a time, there was a developer who wanted to figure out a way to live an affordable life on Munjoy Hill. Munjoy Hill had gotten so expensive, he decided to demolish two buildings with below market rental units and replace them with high-end condos and apartments at a cost of over $3 million.
Fun Fact: "Net Zero" refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere. We reach Net Zero when the amount we add is no more than the amount taken away. In this example, we brought in heavy machinery to demolish existing buildings and completely rebuild from the ground up. During that process we used zero-to-almost-zero energy/fossil fuels. And we're not even done yet!
